Support
Stuck, puzzled, or found a bug? Drop me an email — it reaches a real person (me). There's no crash reporting in the app, so a quick message genuinely helps me find things.
Getting started
Adding an account
Open Eeeemail and add your email account with your address and password. For most providers (Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail and others) Eeeemail detects the IMAP and SMTP server settings automatically. For anything else, you can enter the server hostnames and ports yourself.
Accounts Eeeemail can't connect to yet
Eeeemail signs in over IMAP with your password or an app password. A few providers no longer allow that and only let outside mail apps in through their own sign-in window:
- Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and MSN addresses, and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts.
- Google accounts with app passwords switched off, such as Advanced Protection, or a Google Workspace domain whose administrator blocks them. Gmail with an app password works.
Supporting Google's sign-in window comes with a cost: Google requires every app that reads Gmail this way to pass an independent security assessment each year, which typically runs to several thousand US dollars. We'll add these sign-ins once people ask for them, so if you need one, tell us.
Proton Mail requires Proton Bridge, Proton's desktop app, to use any third-party email client, Eeeemail included. Bridge comes with Proton's paid plans; once it's running, choose Proton Mail when you add the account.
Some services offer no IMAP access at all, so no outside mail app can reach them, such as Tuta and HEY. Mailboxes that only offer POP aren't supported either. A company's own Exchange server works if IMAP is turned on; add it under Other (IMAP).
App passwords (Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo & others)
If your provider uses two-factor authentication, you'll usually need an app-specific password instead of your normal login password:
- Gmail: Google Account → Security → 2-Step Verification → App passwords.
- iCloud: appleid.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords.
- Yahoo / AOL: Account Security → Generate app password.
Paste the generated app password into Eeeemail in place of your account password. It's stored in your macOS Keychain, never in plain text.
Common questions
Where is my mail stored?
On your Mac, in a local database inside the app's sandbox container. Eeeemail has no server — it talks straight to your provider over IMAP/SMTP. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Why won't a remote image load?
Eeeemail blocks remote images by default so senders can't use them to track you. Click "Show images" on a message, or "Always show from this sender," to load them.
How do updates work?
Through the Mac App Store, like any other app — it'll let you know when a new version is ready. There's no separate updater inside the app.
How does pricing work?
$29.99/year through the Mac App Store — one price, all features, all updates. Apple handles billing and renewals; you can cancel anytime in your App Store account settings, and there's a free trial to start.
Get in touch
Setup help, bug reports, privacy questions — anything. I read every message. No ticket queue, no autoresponder, no form-processing middleman: it's just direct email to me. (Fittingly — this is the app whose whole point is that nobody sits in the middle of your mail.)
Email me proton.me.bobcat320@passmail.netPlease include your macOS version and, if it's about a specific message, what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot often helps — just attach it to your email.
